Kucinich for President 2008

Source Kucinich 2008 web-site:
I want to inspire America to take a new path, a different direction. I envision an America which has the capacity to reconnect with the heart of the world; an America which proceeds in the world optimistically and courageously. An America which understands that the world is interdependent, that it is inter-connected, and that what we do today impacts future generations. I want to break the shackles of fear which have deprived our citizens of rights. We need to change the way this country values humanity, so that instead of fear and lies, we can live our lives based on principles of peace and hope. We need to regain the trust of the American people and we need to have a government which trusts the American people. It's time for America to resume its glorious journey; time to reject shrinking jobs and wages, disappearing savings and rights; time to reject the detour towards fear and greed. It's time to look out upon the world for friends, not enemies; time to counter the control of corporations over our politics, our economy, our resources, and mass media. It's time for those who have much to help those who have little, by maintaining a progressive tax structure. It's time to tell the world that we wish to be their partner in peace, not their leader in war. Most of all, it is time for America to again be the land where dreams come true, because the government is on the side of its people.

DMT '07

Digital Mapping Techniques Workshop is a place for people who do what I do to get together one a year and share ideas and current projects. I owe my current position and knowledge to the help that many of the folks in the group have extended me in the past. That's why I am so excited to be hosting this International group here in my hometown. The planning has been quite an adventure so far, and I'm sure it's just the beginning.

3rd Place at Georgia State

Judging

Awards

Crazy Shriners Fountain

We had a great time in Atlanta. The Highland Inn is a great old hotel built in 1927. It was a hip place in the Virginia Highland neighborhood, great for walking. On Saturday, the competition was at this crazy Shriners Mecca. Does anyone know what a Potentate is?? The yo-yo-ers and jugglers were amazing as usual. Kev won 3rd place in the competition in the advanced division. He was very pleased, since the comp was pretty stiff this year. For the first time, there was a girl in the contest, who really won over the judges and took 1st place in the freestyle competition.

Herb Set-up begins

A few years ago we came up with the engineering masterpiece for the lighting system. Kev's grandpa Cecil's walking stick lends itself to the design. Also his mom's antique Ice Cream Chairs, with the heart design are integral. We made a real effort to clean the area with bleach since the unexplainable problems I had last year.
I plan on starting the seeding tonight once all of the seed starting mix has been moistened sufficiently.

The Revenge of Green Envy

Our previous Trophies

Benji and Kevin chilling out before the craziness

The cook-off was fun this year. We didn't win, but we made a damn good chili verde. We brought back our Green Envy Chili. Our booth earned a reputation, not for our chili, but for our freekin' awesome Fried Green Tomatoes that Benji was frying up. A good time was had by all and I can't wait til next year.

Here's looking at you Babe!

Kev oldest and most beautiful Discus, in my opinion! He's rather shy since he lost his long time mate, Orange Girl.

Happy 4th of July!!

Happy B-Day America.

Wow! It's been a while!

We had a little time before the wedding to have an outdoor adventure. We hiked a nice trail to the summit of Wachusett Mountain, which was ~2100ft, and a very fun climb.

Harpoon is the under appreciated brewery in Boston. We can't get our favorite, Munich Dark, at out local distributor, so we made sure to buy a Growler to drink on our trip. A growler is the freshest 64 ozs of beer that you can get refilled at the Boston gift shop. Yum! I guess my second favorite must be the Ale, which we also can't get around here. We have to settle for the IPA, which is really good in its own right.

Here is Kev in front of the World TRade Center in Boston. It's located in South Boston near the wharf district. We were on our way to the Harpoon Brewery for a tasting.

I haven't made a post in a few months. I thought I'd post a few pictures of our trip to Boston, Concord, and out-of-town adventures. We were able to see a great Memorial Day celebration in Concord, MA.

Pop's NY Pizza

As of this week, there's a new pizza place in 5 Points called Pop's NY Pizza. They're offering authentic NY pizzas and to my delight, Philly cheese steak sandwiches. I'm looking forward to trying those. Kev and I were some of their first customers.
First impressions are that the employees were real characters. First you have Pop's, a man of a least 70 years who took my order, in long hand. Behind Pops' counter was a number of grown men shouting at each other in NewYork-ese about the condition of the pizza crusts. And then there was my favorite, a woman who could only be called Mom's. She has to be Pops' partner in crime. She noticed us standing near the counter waiting patiently for our pie, walked over and whispered to me, "Have you been waiting long? Do I need to go yell at these guys?" I assured her that our pizza was being sliced at that very moment, but thanked her all the same.
That gesture by Mom's made all the traffic headaches and population overload in Columbia seem worth it.
And to those who sneer about "damn Yankees" I say "Bug Off! They make good pizza"!

ps. Oh!, The pizza was great!

Charleston boat ride

Johnny Walker, Doc & me. See honey, I do wear a sun hat.

The Drop Off was made

Mom and I delivered dad to Charleston yesterday. We were able to meet some of the guys and gals in his group. They're all very nice and ready to get the job done. Older than I had imagined, but I guess that means they are also wiser. That will serve them well where they're going.
I'm sure going to miss you daddy!!

Keeping in Touch

Hi Everyone,
As you may know, my Dad is leaving on an oversees adventure this January. I'm guessing he will be pretty busy over there, and he might not have a lot of time to communicate with us often. So, I decided to create a blog where we can keep him posted on events back home, post pictures, and generally keep in touch. My hope is that, he will have the time to read this blog, post messages and maybe even a picture or two. Either way, I think this can be another way for the whole family to keep in touch.
Let me know what you think,
luv,
